Taking opportunity of the holiday and long weekend of deepavali, we organised this trip partly for Father-in-law's birthday celebration which happen to be on Halloween. We started our roadtrip early in the morning on Sunday and travelled through the 2nd link and tolls before reaching Melaka for lunch. Shervon slept almost throughout the journey and woke up when we were about to reach our destination. She 'entertained' the folks with her songs and played word games w us. It was jam packed with traffics & bustling as tourists and locals gathered around the popular town. I was disappointed when Chung Wah was super crowded and had queue that had almost 50 people in front of us. In the end, we decided to pack the chicken rice balls and head back to hotel. Took a walk along Jonkers Street as we need to wait for 1/2 hour for the chicken rice ball and settled for lunch along one of the less crowded shops.

By the time we checked in to Makhota Hotel, it was around 5pm. We changed into our swimming attire and took a dip at the pool, sher was estatic as there was a few kids pool where she could have fun. All in all, everyone was feeling relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Then, we walked over to Newton Culture Centre for dinner as driving was not an option due to the heavy traffic... there goes my satay celup :( But, 'compensation' came in the form of Claypot rice. (the owner hung photos taken w Chris & Fann) It was sinfully good... we shared the portion and ordered a few other sides.

Then, we 'hatched' a plan to give Grandpa a surprise as Hb, Sher & myself went back to the mall again to search for a birthday cake which took us nearly an hour, we finally decided on an ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins. Lucky thing, we bought the cake before the mall closed for the day. We got ready and lit the candle, reminded sher to shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY the moment grandpa opened the door... the plan went perfectly well as Grandpa opened the door and we sang birthday song ... and we were glad that the surprise plan fell in place nicely.
